Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Management, Mathematics/Statistics or a related field, and six years of advanced, current and progressively responsible work experience in Oracle and/or SQL Server and structured query languages; or an Associates degree in the above or related fields, and eight years of advanced, current and progressively responsible work experience as stated above.
The desired skill set for the Data Warehouse Developer includes: •experience analyzing customer reporting needs, and understanding and usage of data marts and warehouses •experience using business intelligence modeling, reporting and data management tools such as Informatica, Data Stage, Data Manager; PowerDesigner; Cognos; SQL Server Reporting, Integration, and Analysis Services; Crystal Reports; SAS •experience with OLAP technologies •experience with Oracle or SQL Server
Note: The Department will attempt to fill position at the Sr. Programmer Analyst level. If unable to find candidates who meet the above outlined minimum qualifications, the hiring authority reserves the right to under fill this position as Programmer Analyst III. Summary of Work:
Perform business analysis as it relates to data warehouse and operational reporting systems. Data modeling, implementation, and testing will be performed. Work includes the creation of ETL scripts for extracting, transforming and loading data, and working with multiple Business Intelligence (BI) environments to expose models, develop reports and work with report developers and customers using the warehouse data.
Individual must possess strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to work well with people in a fast-paced, progressive, and challenging team environment. Individual needs to communicate highly technical information to non-technical and technical users, possess strong mentoring skills and be able to pass skills on to others as needed. Individual must possess the organizational and multi-tasking skills needed to organize work and meet deadlines. Self-motivated, fast learner who can make sound decisions with minimal guidance, capable of working flexible hours when required in a deadline intensive work environment.
DUTIES AND TASKS: Business Intelligence Solutions and System Design •Work with customers to gather requirements and mentorship of data usage. •Perform statistical analysis of data in the warehouse. •Study customer's requirements and determine if the business processes for gathering, cleansing, and ensuring the quality of data are adequate. •Analyze options for preparing a BI solution. •Prepare an analysis document with the recommended solution. •Work with State Architects as well as other technical and management resources to develop the best solution. •Analyze, Design, Develop, and Test dimensional models •Create, test and maintain models within BI tools •Write and maintain documentation •Provide incident and problem support to customers •Other duties as assigned
Training will be provided to the successful applicant. Training includes mentoring and formal product training.
