Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: *H.S. diploma/GED *Experience working in a medical or pharmacy setting *Customer service experience including conflict resolution skills and the ability to work with difficult customers. *Knowledge of medical systems *Familiarity with insurance programs *Experience working with and processing financial transactions (i.e. cash and credit card transactions) *Ability to stand throughout the work day *Ability to work in a busy, fast paced pharmacy *Ability to multi-task *Excellent listening skills and the ability to facilitate communication between patient and pharmacy staff *Demonstrated excellent customer service skills *Demonstrated excellent organizational skills *Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills *Must be comfortable with obtaining personal, financial and medical information from patients *Ability to learn and use multiple computer software applications *Experience working in a team setting and functioning as a contributing team member Preferred Qualifications: *Comfortable working with non-English speaking patients in a multicultural setting *Phone skills for calling patients, clinic staff, insurance companies and the language line.

Job Description: (2 positions). The customer service representative is responsible for greeting patients, receiving their medication requests, allergies and other pertinent information and relaying this information to the pharmacy technician or pharmacist; responsible for checking insurance eligibility and entering that information into the pharmacy management software; responsible for presenting applications to patients for prescription assistance programs and may have to assist the patient with questions on the form or call for assistance for the patient; ring up patient purchases, work with credit cards and A/R accounts; responsible for counting out his/her cash register at the end of the day and maintaining the proper currency in the drawer throughout the day in order to conduct transactions; responsible for learning and using 4 different medical software applications and several other communication programs on a daily basis. The customer service rep needs to communicate with the interpreter staff to call interpreters for non English speaking patients or to call a language line interpretation service for the patient; may have to contact other personnel or agencies via phone, software or beeper depending on the needs of the patient; work closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, prescription assistance personnel, management personnel and other pharmacy and clinic staff. Other pharmacy related tasks are performed by the rep when the service window isn't busy. The customer service rep may be asked to serve on the pharmacy's customer service committee and will be expected to participate by contributing observations, assessments and new ideas at pharmacy staff meetings.
