Minimum Qualifications: •B.S. degree in Animal Sciences or related field •Experience with proper handling and care of beef cattle •Experience with operating equipment used for feeding and caring for beef cattle including tractors, skid steer loaders, feed trucks, trailers, squeeze chutes, etc. •Experience with the use of computer software including data handling, spreadsheets, and word processing •Willingness and ability to travel to other research locations to assist with research projects on beef or dairy cattle •Ability to work effectively as part of a team •Good written and oral communication skills •Effective interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: •Experience working with cattle in a research setting •Experience with nutrition and applied reproductive physiology techniques •Experience in biological sample collection and analysis

Job Description: This position is a Research Specialist position (assistant manager) located at the Animal Sciences Beef Cattle Research Complex. The person in this position will assist in all aspects of the management and operation of the Beef Cattle Research Complex. The Beef Cattle Research Complex is a newly constructed state-of-the-art cattle research facility with capabilities for measuring and controlling individual feed intake in cattle housed in pens. Duties will include feeding, animal care, maintaining facilities, assisting with research projects respective and sample collection, data handling and supervising hourly employees. A portion (approximately 30 percent) of the time will be spend assisting faculty focusing on beef research projects on and off campus.
