Requirements:
- The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. degree in virology, immunology, or a closely-related discipline and a minimum of 7 years of relevant post-doctoral experience including managing a research program/project and involvement in biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) research.
- Preferred candidates will possess a strong publication record, extensive laboratory expertise, excellent problem solving and sound verbal and written communication skills.
- The candidate must be able to work independently and productively and to contribute creatively in a collaborative team environment, and possess strong interpersonal and managerial skills.
- Prior experience with viral infection models is required and experience with highly pathogenic avian influenza is preferred. Prior experience in clinical trials and clinically-oriented research is a plus.
Job Description:
- Manage research group, reporting to the Program Director and the representatives of the associated research entities.
- Design, conduct and interpret experiments that measure efficacy of vaccines experimental therapeutics using multiple animal model systems and cell-based assays.
- Design and optimization of project planning and milestones in the Center's antibody therapeutic and vaccine formulations. Maintain laboratory notebooks and records in a detailed and descriptive manner.
- Understand the confidential nature of the research and conduct all interactions within the constraints of the Center's policies.
- Conduct regular communication with participant scientists and critical reviews of their data, methods, and protocols.
- Participate in scientific discussion with colleagues through scientific seminars and meetings.
