CNBC recently announced that North Dakota has placed fifth among all states in its annual study of "America's Top States for Business". North Dakota moved up eight spots from the 13th ranking in 2011.
"Rankings like this are another indication that we are creating one of the best business environments in the nation," North Dakota Commerce Commissioner Al Anderson said. "It's great to see this hard work recognized repeatedly by CNBC."
The CNBC ranking scored all 50 states on 51 measures of competitiveness developed with input from business groups including the National Association of Manufacturers and the Council on Competitiveness, as well as the states themselves. States received points based on their rankings in each metric.
