"Our business guests from across the country are enamored with our location here in the West." |
Don Hedger's love for western North Dakota inspired him and his family to move home to Killdeer thirty years ago from Phoenix to begin building their legacy.
With his electronic manufacturing company, Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, Hedger created 300 jobs in western North Dakota, built a world-class manufacturing facility, and forged partnerships with Dickinson State University and North Dakota State University to improve KMM's manufacturing processes, train tomorrow's workforce and improve the state's economy.
Hedger says, "Working with state universities is a wonderful opportunity to combine their educational resources and capabilities with our manufacturing abilities. We are developing the needed skills and technologies to be a world-class manufacturer."
Building a legacy is a family endeavor. With his wife, Patricia, Hedger was instrumental in building a nursing home in Killdeer that employs another 100 people. Three generations of his family currently work for the company including three of his children and three grandchildren.
Hedger's passion for western North Dakota is contagious. "Our business guests from across the country are enamored with our location here in the West. They envy us for the fishing, hunting and horseback riding that is right in our backyard."
