BISMARCK, N.D. – One North Dakota filmmaker will be awarded $25,000 as the North Dakota Film Partnership concludes with live online pitches beginning at 1 p.m. (CDT) on May 5.
Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, pitches will be made online instead of live in front of an audience. Pitches will be made shark-tank style to a panel of qualified judges representing various creative, marketing and community-building areas.
“No one tells the North Dakota story better than North Dakotans,” Gov. Doug Burgum said. “The winner will be able to produce a series of short films showcasing the amazing things that make North Dakota a great place to Be Legendary.”
The contest invited North Dakota filmmakers to produce a short film eight minutes or less showcasing the heart, soul and vibrancy of North Dakota communities. The objective is to visually connect unique stories of place in a way that builds pride, appreciation and awareness of North Dakota’s communities for both residents and nonresidents.
The winner will receive $25,000 to produce three short films to be used in North Dakota’s promotional efforts and premiere at the Main Street Summit in October in Bismarck. Grant dollars are intended to cover travel and production costs.
The pitches can be viewed live through a Teams Meeting:
