This is an exciting opportunity to join our staff of IT professionals at the North Dakota Information Technology Department (ITD). Salary Range: $4260 - $7100 per month
Hiring Range: $4260 - $5680 per month
(Incumbent salary will be commensurate with education and experience; complete compensation package includes employer paid family health care, generous pension plan, paid vacation and sick leave)
Summary of Work
Work involves participating with a team responsible for supporting a large enterprise network that includes the data network, voice network and video network along with the necessary supporting infrastructure. Work involves providing incident management and problem management for users of all levels within state and local government, K-12 education and higher education.
The successful candidate will work as a member of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team and must have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and have strong time management skills. Must be able to make sound decisions and work well within a team environment. Applicant must demonstrate a strong fundamental knowledge of large networks or network technology.
Duties and Tasks:
•Take ownership of incidents and provide Tier II support to all entities including state and local government, K-12 education and Higher education.
•Work closely with customers, contractors, teammates and other interdepartmental entities to ensure quality of service and coordination or work activities including installation and problem resolution.
•Coordinate incident management and problem management between customers, vendors and senior technicians.
•Coordinate changes requested by customers and internal staff to network, voice and video configuration and solutions.
•Configure and setup new network hardware or services such as network switches, routers, routing protocols, quality of service, phones, call center solutions or video codecs.
•Implement network monitoring and proactively monitor network activities to provide for prompt network incident resolution.
•Assist in problem resolution by providing in-depth hardware analysis and protocol analysis.
•Maintain records and update and create documentation as necessary.
•Provide assistance with after hours maintenance activities and participate in on-call rotations.
Bachelor’s degree in Network Systems, Computer Science, Data Systems Design or a related field and three years of current and progressive work experience in the evaluation and analyses of major portions of a large data network; or an Associate’s degree in computer related field and five years of current and progressive related work experience as stated above.
Note: The Department will attempt to fill this position at the Network Administrator II level if unable to find candidates who meet the above outlined minimum qualifications; the hiring authority reserves the right to under fill this position as a Network Administrator I.
Network Administrator I – Bachelor’s degree in Network Systems, Computer Science, or Data Systems Design and one year experience in the evaluation and analyses of major portions of a large data network; an Associate’s degree or two years of related coursework in computer science, computer information systems, network systems or related field with three years of current and progressively responsible experience described above may be substituted for the above Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience requirement.
