TITLE: Budget/Accounting Specialist
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Budget/Accounting Specialist position is responsible for daily banking transactions, bank reconciliations, assisting in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and various other financial related reconciliations, schedules, and reports. Assist with campus budget and budget variance analysis. Providing assistance and support to the Controller, as well as back up for the other Business Affairs Staff.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Controller
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business or related field
• Strong analytical and problem solving and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong technical skills, specifically with MS Office Suite
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and be effective, while being able to prioritize work
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Budgeting Experience within Higher Education
• Familiarity with state and federal regulations
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft/Oracle Financial Module
COMPENSATION: Includes a salary of $48,000 - $58,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. And a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including employer-paid full-family coverage health insurance, TIAA retirement, tuition waiver benefits and much more.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Assist with budgeting, budget management, and budget variance analysis
• Prepare financial statements, daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations and report
• Assist with financial functions and processes to the operation of the university
• Provide backup to accounts payable position
• Practice compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and university policies and procedures
• Implement and practice internal controls
• Other duties as assigned
