Hiring Range: $4,260 - $5,822 monthly (Incumbent salary will be commensurate with education and experience; complete compensation package includes employer paid family health care, generous pension, paid vacation, sick leave & flex time.)
Summary of Work

North Dakota’s Information Technology organization asks itself “How might we deliver world class technology and service?” North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) is seeking a candidate that has the same passion to Empower People, Improve Lives, Inspire Success, and deliver world class technology through network administration for NDIT and other state agencies.
Successful candidates will be part of a team responsible in the design, implementation day-to-day operations and support of the network and VoIP infrastructure for its customers and partners of STAGEnet (State Technology Access for Government and Education Network), which carries data, voice and video solutions.
Duties and Tasks
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Involved in the detailed design, creation and analysis of network and voice-based infrastructure and solutions
•Implementation of changes and solutions of network and voice-based infrastructure that meets customer requirements
•Development and execution of test plans
•Documentation of network design and engineering
•Provide research and advanced assistance in the troubleshooting and incident management process and network/communication technologies
•Involved in ongoing monitoring, management and capacity planning
•Participate in the execution of the overall security strategy as it relates to network infrastructure




Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Network Administrator II - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, network systems or related field and Three years of current and progressive experience in planning, design, installation, testing, support and management of a large, complex, network/VoIP infrastructure supporting multiple locations. Experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year for year basis.
Note: NDIT will attempt to fill this position at the Network Administrator II level if unable to find candidates who meet the above outlined minimum qualifications; the hiring authority reserves the right to under fill this position Network Administrator I. ITD will train the successful candidate in any areas of unfamiliarity.
Network Administrator I - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, network systems or related field and One year of current and progressive experience in planning, design, installation, testing, support and management of a large network/VoIP infrastructure supporting multiple locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will also be given to candidates having experience with Juniper, Extreme, Palo Alto Network, Polycom or Avaya equipment. Preference will also be given to candidates with knowledge of Linux and network security practices.
