Job Description:

Branch Manager is responsible for strategic and business planning, business development, and client management for municipal, rural, and industrial clients in northwestern North Dakota. This team member provides general leadership and engineering solutions in a variety engineering aspects. The ideal candidate may have background in any of the major civil engineering disciplines including but not limited to; Traffic & Transportation, Land Planning & Development, Municipal, or Water Resources.

Branch Manager

Develop and foster client relationships in support of business development to secure new project opportunities.

Consult with clients and stakeholders to plan and develop strategies for civil engineering design and support needs.

Manage projects, client and contractor agreements, and budgets.

Work with designers to prepare plans and specifications for projects, providing guidance and technical assistance.

Mentor and guide junior staff and engineers.

You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or similar field with North Dakota PE registration.

You are building on 15 plus years of successful design and consulting experience within Civil Engineering.

You have strong technical skills and experience using Autodesk Civil 3D, XP-SWMM, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, StormCAD and other related programs.

You are a people person and enjoy the interpersonal client relationship required of consultants.

You have successfully worked in teams and have outstanding listening and communication skills.

You advocate proactively for Civil Engineering field and enjoy sharing knowledge, giving presentations, and encouraging students to explore it as a career.


You oversee and develop project plans and studies.

You design plans and strategies related to civil engineering for client review and approval.

You analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests and photographs to plan and design projects.

You provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modification.

You regularly evaluate designs to determine project feasibility, estimate quantities, and cost of materials, equipment, and labor.

You interface with public agencies about providing support, permitting, and approval of project needs.

You assist in the inspection of project sites to monitor construction progress and ensure design specifications are met.

You read and interpret construction plans to assist with client management and effectively communicate to answer inquiries from colleagues, clients, contractors, or the public.

You perform pre-design services, such as feasibility or preliminary engineering reports.

You are comfortable speaking to City's Councils, Board of Directors, and other various entities.

You manage existing clients, work to develop new business relationships, and secure new clientele.

You communicate well and seek out new business opportunities.

You work with a team of professionals to develop content for response to RFQs and RFPs

This position is located in our Williston office; however, occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required on an occasional basis.

Ackerman-Estvold offers a competitive salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, 401K, annual bonus, vacation, sick, and holiday leave.

Salary range is $140K - $145K annually.

$20,000 Sign-On Bonus
