Job Description:

North Dakota State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Registrar. This dynamic leadership position reports to the University Provost and is responsible for the supervision (20+ FTE) and operation of Registration and Records. The Registrar works closely with campus stakeholders from all areas of the university including enrollment management (admission, financial aid, student success programs and one stop), faculty senate, university curriculum committee, customer account services, information technology, and facilities management.
Responsibilities include providing visionary and collaborative leadership to the Office of Registration and Records to ensure the maintenance, preservation, security and transmission of student academic records and transcript services. Other duties include directing registration, scheduling of courses and assignment of classrooms, monitoring the implementation of academic policies and preparation of related reports, implementation of academic and student data privacy policies including FERPA, supervision of unit staff and budget management, serving on University and professional committees, overseeing activities related to commencement ceremonies, and, implementing necessary technology to achieve department goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
• Progressive levels of experience with 5+ years in a student support function in higher education (e.g. registration and records, financial aid, admission, recruitment)
• Proficiency in the use of technology solutions related to student information systems
• Evidence of strong supervisory and leadership experience
• Ability to collaborate and build productive relationships with multiple departments on a college/university campus
• Thorough understanding of college/university structures, degree requirements, and academic policies/procedures
• Knowledge of FERPA regulations and compliance
• Documented commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Terminal degree
• Budget management experience
• Experience interpreting and applying FERPA and other related federal regulations relating to higher education
• Record of successful leadership in the use and implementation of student records systems including, but not limited to, setting up and maintaining student records, course enrollment/registration, academic structure tables to include courses and programs of study, degree audit and completion, and security for faculty and staff
• Record of successful leadership in the use and implementation of software related to functions of the registration and records office such as room scheduling, maintenance of catalog and curricula, transcript management, etc. (e.g. Ad Astra, CourseLeaf, National Student Clearinghouse, Perceptive Content, DegreeMap, College Scheduler)
