Summary of Work

The State of North Dakota’s purpose is to Empower People, Improve Lives, and Inspire Success. North Dakota’s Information Technology (NDIT) asks itself “How might we deliver world class technology and service?” NDIT is seeking a candidate that has the same passion to Empower People, Improve Lives, Inspire Success, and deliver world class technology as a PeopleSoft Application Developer. The successful candidate is responsible for the development, enhancement and maintenance of the North Dakota Financial/Employee Resources Application using the PeopleSoft tool set. The individuals must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills and be able to perform in a fast-paced, progressive and challenging team environment. The successful candidate will work in a team environment and all team members are responsible for project success.

Duties and Tasks

•Coordinate with users and other system support sources to ensure compatibility and integrity of programs.

•Make recommendations for the development of effective software application solutions

•Develop, test, modify, implement, and maintain or enhance application software to established standards and specifications.

•Develop application software using approved programming languages.

•Modify acquired application software using tables, profiles, and other vendor-supplied customization tools to reflect approved changes specified by the users.

•Implement approved changes to application software to maintain currency standards, correct problems, and modify or enhance application functions.


Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or related field and six year of current and progressive experience involving difficult programming and systems analysis work.
•Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field, and eight years of related experience as stated above may be substituted for the above bachelor’s degree and one year of experience requirement.

Note: The Department will attempt to fill this position at the Programmer Analyst III level if unable to find candidates who meet the above outlined minimum qualifications; the hiring authority reserves the right to under fill this position as Programmer Analyst II, Programmer Analyst I or Programmer. NDIT will train the successful candidate in any areas of unfamiliarity.

Programmer Analyst II
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or related field and four year of current and progressive experience involving difficult programming and systems analysis work.
•Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field, and six years of related experience as stated above may be substituted for the above bachelor’s degree and one year of experience requirement.

Programmer Analyst I
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or related field and one year of current and progressive experience involving moderately difficult programming and system analysis work.
•Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field, and three years of related experience as stated above may be substituted for the above bachelor’s degree and one year of experience requirement.

Programmer
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or related field.
•Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field, and one years of related experience as stated above may be substituted for the above bachelor’s degree.

Starting salary will be commensurate with the level at which the position is filled and candidate’s qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to individuals with experience in People Tools, People Code, Structured Query Report, Structured Query Language, BI Publisher and knowledge of PeopleSoft applications (HCM, Finance, ELM).
