Summary of Position: Under general supervision, the Custodian performs a variety of custodial services both individually and with other Custodial Services staff in residence halls, academic or administrative facilities as assigned. The position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the day-to-day cleanliness and attractiveness of university facilities, surrounding building areas, and set-up for activities. The specific duties, tasks or combinations of tasks may vary according to the assigned facility(s); facility assignments may change to meet the needs of the department.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel and as such will have varying hours. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position will be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours including assigned weekends.
Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Custodial Coordinator
Education: High school diploma or GED
Good planning and organizational skills
Well developed interpersonal and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to understand and follow safety procedures
Demonstrated ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment
Demonstrated ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with coworkers
Physically able to stand, walk, use hands dexterously, lift and carry up to 10 pounds, the majority of the time working
