Job Description:
The Department of Plant Sciences at North Dakota State University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to produce technical data for dry bean. This individual is expected to conduct both fundamental and applied research in modification of plant proteins for improving their functionality as the functional ingredient in food applications. The successful candidate will carry out physiochemical and biochemical methods to modification of plant proteins, and analyze structural, physicochemical properties and flavor profile of plant proteins with different techniques and design. The performances of plant protein ingredients in diverse food systems also will be evaluated. The successful candidate requires to have the capability to analyze results and data with appropriate statistical methods, write scientific reports and manuscripts for publication, and deliver presentations at scientific meetings and to other interested parties. The individual is also expected to assist in training and supervising student researchers, manage lab facilities, and perform other duties as requested by the PI. The initial appointment is for two years, with an opportunity for renewal for a second year depending on progress made and funding.



Advertised salary: $39,520

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

•Holds an earned Ph.D. in cereal science or food science.
•Strong research background and established publication record.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to work with others in a multicultural environment.
•Ability to write progress reports and present research at conferences.
•Able to write manuscripts for research papers

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in Spray drying, Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Rheometer, Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Microfluidizer, Particle size analyzer.
