Position Description & Details:

The Education Specialist: English & Study Skills position for Student Support Services (SSS) is a full-time, 12-month position that is responsible for student advisement, instruction in reading/ writing, and study skills, SSS participant recruitment, curriculum development, and campus outreach/ service. This position also coordinates social media/ marketing for SSS.

TRIO Student Support Services is a federal grant program housed at NDSU since 1979. TRIO SSS is in its first year of its latest 5-year award. TRIO SSS provides academic, career and personal advising, tutoring, mentoring, and a wide range of activities geared towards the educational enhancement, cultural enrichment, retention and graduation of first-generation students, income 

Advertised Salary:
$40,000+/ year

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required (English, Education, Communication, or related field)
Specialized knowledge in reading, writing, English, and study skills
Experience in advising students on academic, personal, and/or career matters
Experience with curriculum development/ lesson planning
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of or experience working with a diverse student population
Computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Adobe, Word, Data entry, Social Media platforms, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in relevant field
Three years experience in teaching, counseling, career counseling, or student services
Experience working in higher education
Experience with TRIO Programs
