Job Description:
Position Description:
This position is a 100% Nutritional Physiology Technician position. Expectations include laboratory analyses (including development of assays not currently conducted in the principal investigators laboratory), training graduate and undergraduate students, coordinating laboratory activities, and assisting with research experiments involving animals. Laboratory analyses may include techniques such as protein electrophoresis/immunoblotting, enzyme activity analyses, metabolite analyses, PCR, “omics” approaches, proximate analyses, in vitro tissue/cellular metabolic studies, gas analyses, etc. For assisting with research experiments involving animals, duties may include data and sample collection, laboratory and statistical analyses, summarizing research results, and animal care. The person in this position will also be expected to collaborate with other research staff, students, and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
*B.S. degree in Physiology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Animal Sciences, or related field
*Demonstrated experience with relevant laboratory analyses
*Experience with data collection
*Experience with the use of computer software, including spreadsheets and word processing
*Ability to work effectively as part of a team
*Good written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
*M.S. in Physiology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Animal Sciences, or related field
*Experience with database and data analysis software
*Experience with bioinformatics
*Experience with handling and care of large animals
