Position Description & Details:
This position will design, manage and direct the continuity programs for NDSU, facilitating their inclusion within the emergency response framework of the university. This position will create, develop, implement and exercise policies and procedures related to continuity management and coordinate and integrate continuity planning strategies with related disciplines, including disaster recover, emergency response and crisis management.
Manage and oversee development and maintenance of Continuity of Operations Plans
Assumes a role in understanding dependencies throughout the University and incorporates them into Continuity of Operations Plans
Communicates with the Director, UPSO and other senior executives as appropriate on plan status including significant enhancements or issues that could impact continuity planning
Partners with stakeholders to ensure appropriate integration of preparedness efforts across the University
Serves as Alternate/Chair capacity on the NDSU Continuity Planning Team comprised of senior leaders across the University to provide oversight and support of Continuity Planning
Responds to disruptions requiring Continuity of Operations Plan activation and supports affected University functions
Work with Administrative Continuity Planning Groups to facilitate the creation and maintenance of each unit’s continuity plans
Works with various departments across the university to develop and maintain up-to-date Continuity of Operations Plans using a risk-based approach
Motivates participants and shepherds units and staff through the entire planning life cycle
Design and outline Continuity of Operations Plan goals, objectives and scope for essential University functions
Keeps current with continuity industry standards
Conducts on-going evaluation of campus preparedness, including initial and periodic assessment of natural, technological and human hazards and threats.
Educational Training/Exercise Development and Facilitation
Design and facilitate tests and exercises on the continuity of operations plans and crisis management execution
Works with departments to ensure effective understanding of Continuity of Operations Plans
Implements general Continuity of Operations education and messaging to enhance awareness and commitment across the University
Conduct tabletop and functional exercises across divisional areas to ascertain potential gaps in response and recovery ability
Facilitates and monitors completion of training as required by Emergency Operations Plan
Arranges or suggests continuing development opportunities for University personnel to enhance response and continuity capabilities
Suggest outreach improvements to enhance University community knowledge of continuity concepts, i.e., website enhancements
Work Schedule: M-F, Regular Business Hours (8-5 pm or 7:30-4 pm)
Advertised Salary: Commensurate with Experience

*B.A. or B.S. in appropriate field of study related to emergency management, risk assessment, business continuity, etc.
*Working knowledge of risk management and assessment process, operational continuity, emergency mangagement, NIMS, ICS principles
*Good oral, intepersonal and written communication skills
*Advanced degree in emergency management related field
*Direct work experience in the area of continuity planning and operations
*Experience in a Higher Education Setting
*Five or more years in continuity planning and operations role
