Job Description:
Position Description & Details:
The Career Coach is a position that facilitates academic and career exploration for prospective and current students. This position works with partners across campus training them in the software that assists with this exploration. This position will also serve as a Career Coach to current students, guiding them through career planning, job search, and creating materials. This position will support the development of Career Mentors and other various activities within the office.

Career Coaching and Development:
*Deliver career coaching services directly to students including exploration and career preparation such as resume/CV/cover letter review, mock interviews and graduate school preparation.
*Teach and encourage use of Handshake technology while working with students.
*Expand professional competence with respect to current literature and industry trends through research, professional conferences, and discussion.
*Serve as subject expert and trainer on a range of topics related to career exploration, especially the identification of interests and skills, career assessment interpretation, career planning, decision-making, development of career goals and action plans, job search techniques, networking, interviewing, salary negotiation, graduate school decisions, and application procedures.
*Understand and assist in facilitation of internship exploration with students.
*Promote and actively participate in NDSU sponsored Career Fairs.
Academic and Career Exploration:
*Lead the exploration function designed to maximize scalability of helping all NDSU students become career-ready.
*Keep current on the academic offerings of NDSU and how that relates to career.
*Implement and support the development of career exploration software.
*Train the campus community (staff, faculty, and Career Mentors) in how to effectively utilize career exploration software for student exploration.
*Work closely with the Admission office to offer access to academic exploration to prospective NDSU students.
*Administer career assessments in group and 1:1 settings as appropriate; discuss results of career assessments with students.
*Ensure success of career exploration function by executing a career exploration growth plan aligned with the Career and *Advising Center co-curriculum that elevates career readiness outcomes for NDSU students.
Partner Development:
*Deliver presentations related to career exploration and development to classrooms, student organizations, prospective students, employers, and faculty/staff.
*Train faculty to embed/enhance career exploration training in their courses’ curricula including use of career exploration software and Handshake.
*Increase number of strategic relationships on-campus and off-campus by executing a partner growth plan among faculty, staff, student organizations, and employers resulting in significantly rising career coaching/mentoring participation rates across campus.
*Serve as liaison with assigned College(s), co-curricular partners, student organizations, and employers; meeting with them regularly to learn about their needs, explore solutions to problems, and integrate career readiness initiatives into curricular and co-curricular areas.
*Manage relationships with liaison partners in such a way that mutually enhances success of partners and the Career and Advising Center.

Work Schedule:
*Academic Year Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
*Summer and Break Hours: 7:30am-4pm
*Occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
*Two years of professional experience beyond bachelor’s degree.
*Experience participating in one-to-one development meetings.
*Experience teaching or presenting to diverse audiences.
*Proficiency using various software applications and/or online resources.
*Demonstrated understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion.
*Excellent written and verbal communication
*Ability to present information clearly, concisely, and persuasively in groups
*Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively
*Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to set priorities and adapt to change

Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience connecting people and/or organizations through outreach
*Experience advising on resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and job search
