Job Description:
Position Description & Details:

The department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials at North Dakota State University seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position starting Fall 2022. Rank is open and will depend on the qualifications of the candidate. Candidates will be expected to establish an internationally recognized research program and be an effective instructor in the field of coatings technology at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Candidates for the position must have a PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, materials science, polymer science, coatings science or related field, a demonstrated track record of research in a field related to the research interests of the department, and good oral and written communication skills.

Candidates are preferred to have research expertise in one or more of the following areas: Corrosion, electrochemistry, and corrosion prevention organic coatings; coatings systems; material characterization; coatings rheology; smart materials; color science. Areas not of interest are polymer and material synthesis.

In addition, candidates with previous national laboratory or industry experience are especially encouraged to apply.

Advertised Salary:

$70,000 - 95,000/year

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates for the position must have:

a PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, materials science, polymer science, coatings science or related field
a demonstrated track record of research in a field related to the research interests of the department
good oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates are preferred to have research expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Corrosion, electrochemistry, and corrosion prevention organic coatings
coatings systems
material characterization
coatings rheology
smart materials
color science

(Areas not of interest are polymer and material synthesis.)

In addition, candidates with previous national laboratory or industry experience are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicant Materials Required:

Applicants for the position will need to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy, detailed research plans and the names of at least three references.

Review of applications will begin on December 15 and continue until the position is filled.
