The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI) at the North Dakota State University invites post-doctoral applications to aid in the development of a comprehensive multistate, multimodal corridor planning model, focused on rail and intermodal freight, highway and intercity rail passenger transportation. The project will be stationed at North Dakota State University in the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute.

Responsibilities:

The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute is developing a comprehensive multistate, multimodal corridor planning model, focused on rail and intermodal freight, highway, and intercity rail passenger transportation. The model will provide wide-ranging capabilities for traffic flow prediction and freight modeling, as well as safety risk and economic analysis.

In this position, the selected applicant will focus on developing and apply components of the model in TransCAD, a multimodal transportation planning software. In addition, the development of procedures and data in ArcGIS and other GIS/transportation planning applications may be required. The position will provide someone postdoc with experience in building a state-of-the-art multimodal surface transportation model, with extended economic analysis capabilities.

Advertised Salary: $50,000 +/DOE

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires PhD degree from a regionally accredited college or university in engineering, transportation planning or related field
Related dissertation topic
Strong analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including technical writing

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in TransCAD
Extensive GIS experience
Economic analysis experience
