Provide oversight of all educational programs including, but not limited to: short courses (on demand, online, and in person), webinars, conferences, handbooks, and any other ways that NCI will develop to grow markets for crops grown in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. This role will manage the program/education staff, assist in coordinating and carrying out industry outreach, and coordinate with technical and communications managers in ensuring programs are carried out. This role will also be responsible for growing program/education income to ensure the mission of NCI fulfilled.
*Manage education/program staff and ensure programs (short courses, webinars, handbooks, etc) are well thought out, planned, and executed. Work cross functionally across NCI as well as with the industry to ensure NCI is coordinating, developing and implementing educational programs that support NCI’s mission to maintain and expand domestic and international markets, and value-added agriculture for northern grown crops.
*Lead and manage program staff as they coordinate with national organizations on opportunities to help expand markets through new courses and educational programs for buyers, processors and producers as needed. Lead and manager program staff as they seek out and work within the four-state area and their various commodity groups and governmental organizations to develop educational programs from idea to implementation. Develop and maintain relationships within business, industry and education to carry out courses. Ensure financial resources are available to conduct and grow NCI programs and lead and manage program staff as they develop new and innovative delivery methods to fulfill the NCI mission. Lead and manage NCI program staff as they pursue potential cooperators and sponsors for educational courses. Develop the monthly and yearly tactical plans to ensure the strategic plan is carried out. Work with program staff to consider the financial aspects of educational programs including applying for grants, helping set fees, obtaining sponsorships, and assisting with budgeting and follow up. Coordinate with the director to ensure proper representation at events at NCI, the region, and with our national and international partners. Coordinate with program staff to ensure industry outreach and that we are represented at trade shows, meetings, and the information at these meetings including trends, potential speakers, and collaborators are brought back for use in NCI programs.
*Lead and manage the program staff as they organize and synthesize information for both existing and new educational programs. Explore ways to expand reach of programs and ensure that NCI programs act as ambassadors for NCI, region and country. Ensure that courses and program staff are evaluating and using new teaching methods and technology to facilitate educational opportunities. Lead the effort with the four state land grants to ensure we are utilizing the best from the region for our respective courses. Lead and manage the effort with NCI staff and educators from the four-state region to ensure proper curriculum and presentations as well as archives and ongoing course materials. Manage program staff to ensure planning and scheduling of educational programs work to expand and broaden the database for potential course participants.
*Coordinate with the Director and staff in reviewing and assist in leading ongoing long-term strategy development and implementation. Understand change management process and implement to ensure progress. Coordinate with external parties to develop ideas and concepts to bring back to NCI. Work cross functionally across NCI to look ahead at new ideas, concepts, technology, and other factors that may impact our mission. Work to obtain the necessary resources to carry out the mission of NCI.

*MS preferred in Public Relations, Education, Communication, Ag Economics, Business, Agriculture, Engineering, or BS in the same fields with 5 years’ experience in related industry
*Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team.
*Preferred 10 years managing people.
