Job Description:
Responsible for placing Safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and ability to work in a team environment. This position focuses on the engineering design and project management of 34.5kV to 345kV electric transmission lines. Perform tasks related to the engineering, construction, project management of utility transmission facilities. Develop, document, and implement standards and processes impacting the reliable operation of the utility. Create specifications and design details for transmission projects.

Job Responsibilities for Level I and Level II:
1. Develops and maintains transmission models by gathering and analyzing GIS information, field data, and survey data using PLS Cadd.
2. Identifies and plans required system reinforcement to ensure continued electric service to all customers during peak demand period.
3. Ability to apply engineering principles to the development of design, specifications, support service, cost estimates, and project management of electric transmission line projects including new construction, rebuilds, realignments, structure replacements and other projects of technical nature
4. Creates and updates technical company procedures to ensure compliance with state and Federal codes. Reviews codes, standards, and recommended practices and apply requirements to company operation.
5. Prepares construction authorizations, maps, forms, permits, and other documents relating to construction and maintenance of projects and equipment. Prepares work orders and purchase orders as needed.
6. Recommends changes to policies, practices, standards, and procedures that may enhance efficiency, reliability, or safety.
7. Provide technical support to Consultants, Construction Supervisors, and Contractors.
8. Maintains knowledge of industry standards and Code of Federal Regulations.
9. Performs assigned duties associated with the development and oversight of Company Compliance Plans.
10. Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
11. Apply engineering principles in the development of transmission line designs.

Additional Job Responsibilities for Level II and Level III may also include:
• Project manager of large and complex projects and facilities. Prepares scope, establishes schedules, detailed cost estimates and budget, creates and manages project teams, reviews and manages outside consultants and contractors, creates bid documents, evaluates and awards bids, documents changes.
• Assist in the preparation of the corporate capital budget for all engineering responsibilities, including reinforcement, replacement, and relocation projects.
• Initiates design specifications and drawings of electric facilities. Approves final designs prepared by consultants, GIS, etc.
• Assists in the development of design, installation, operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Provides technical, informational, and recommendations to management.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
• All Levels must possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) from an ABET accredited school.

• Level II requires minimum of two years related work experience.

• Level III requires a minimum of five years of progressive experience and understanding in the energy industry, including utility electric operations, maintenance, design, and project management.
Other Requirements
•Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorship considered.
•Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
•Moderate travel (25%) within service territory. Some overnight stays required.
•Required to maintain a valid driver’s license.

Key Skills & Competencies
•Ability to apply engineering principles to the development design, management, and engineering oversight of electric transmission line projects including new construction, rebuilds, realignments, and structure replacements.
•Create detailed engineering reports, drawing packages, cost estimates, specifications, bid documents, and material lists for these types of projects.
•Ability to use PLS Cadd to model and design transmission lines.
•Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
•Drafting experience using Autocad.
•Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
•Strong customer service skills and ability to provide effective and timely information.
•Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and tasks at one time.
•Self-motivated to work on projects and tasks independently and as a team.
•Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
•Civil Engineering Degree
•Prior experience working in the energy industry including utility operations, design, and project management.
•Proficient in engineering software such as PLSCadd, PLSPole, Caisson, AutoCad, and others.
•An EI/EIT (Engineering in Training) Certificate for levels I or II preferred.
•A PE (Professional Engineer) Certificate for level III preferred.
